Adopt a dog!
From time to time we have dogs that we are looking to place in a caring home. These dogs may be retiring from their job, or simply have pet qualities and are looking to "own their own human". At the end of each season, we look for active homes for these dogs who would not miss their life as a working dog.
While we have assessed these dogs as "pet quality" please remember that they have some special needs due to their years in a kennel. They will all require patience and time to adjust to their new home. They are not cut from the same cloth as a golden retriever or labrador. However, if one is willing to make the effort, they will become loving and extra dedicated companions. Perhaps more dedicated than other dogs, as they now have a human to call their very own. One of the issues you may be confronted with is seperation anxiety, as they have never spent time alone. They have always been with other dogs. Some will need help in figuring out simple things such as stairs, waiting politely for their meal, and other rules of the house. Alaskan Huskies typically have a strong hunt drive, which does not make them suitable farm dogs. They all will require daily exercise. They are bred to run and run they do. Folks looking for a pet skijoring dog could not find a better match.
Many of the dogs we are looking to place have been raised by us, which means they have been socialized thoroughly as pups, are excellent off leash, and love a spot on the couch. In additon, any dogs we deem to be pet quality get tested by our staff, who take them home at night for sleep overs, walks, and general exposure to household goings on. This has initialized them into a different life, however they will still need extra work, time and attention to help them make the full transition.

Satchmo is living with a massage thereapist in British Columbia. Barbie is on her way to Washingtion DC to live with a family of 3 other dogs. Katie retired to California, where she lives on the beach with an artist.

Ani
Ani is a quiet, somewhat serious but gently affectionate 8 year old retired racer. She has been living in the house for two years now.
She would be best placed in a quiet environment with a woman who loves to go for country walks. Not good with children but fine with cats. She will make a devoted companion to the right person.
Ani is spayed. |

Libby
Libby is a 10 year old retired race leader. She has completed many distance races as a star lead dog.
Libby still loves to head down the trail as a sleddog, but it is time she hung up her harness and went for walks instead.
She is lively and affectionate.

Betty
Betty is a very shy but adorable 4 year old, who is very smart, loves to go fast and is bored with tours! She would love to join the house dog pack but there just isn’t room for her right now!
She would be best placed in an active environment with another dog to make her feel at ease. |

Violet
Violet should be on a t-shirt that says “LIFE IS GOOD” She has a disposition similar to a labradour retriever, with her tail wiggly waggling at a constant pace.
She is great with kids, great with other dogs and is just a happy girl. She is about 9 years old now and is looking to retire and lend some comic relief to a new home. Everyone loves Violet.
Violet is not spayed |

Boo
Boo is one of our favourites in the kennel and she was our star race leader during her prime.
She is 9 years old now, and sweet as honey would best describe Boo. Boo is a doll and would fit in with any family.
Boo is not spayed. That’s Boo in lead on the left, on our race page picture. |

Purdy
Princess Purdy is 9 years old and while she was a top contributer to the race team, she would love nothing more than to retire to a comfy couch on a full time basis. She is a huge lover and would fit in with any family. Purdy is not spayed.
